1. The Real-World Problem

In Assam, Class 12 students face a critical decision gap: what to do after school. Unlike urban hubs, most students lack access to structured career counseling, up-to-date course information, or mentors who understand local constraints — language, finances, and geography.

2. Why Existing Solutions Fail (The Friction)

Current solutions are either too generic (YouTube in English/Hindi), too expensive (private counseling), or too fragmented (spreadsheets and WhatsApp forwards). There is no single, Assamese-first, always-available platform that maps local opportunities to student interests.

Language friction: most career platforms are in English or Hindi.

Trust friction: students doubt paid advice and random blog posts.

Discovery friction: government schemes, scholarships, and local colleges are not centralized.

3. How AI / Open-Source Tech Solves It

We propose an open-source, AI-guided career platform built for Assamese-speaking students. Instead of replacing human judgment, AI acts as a first-layer guide — filtering options, explaining eligibility, and surfacing verified resources.

Assamese-First Interface

All core content is presented in Assamese, with English toggle support. This removes the single biggest barrier: language.

AI-Powered Option Filter

A lightweight recommendation engine suggests courses, diplomas, and skill paths based on the student's stream, interest, and budget. No login required for basic guidance.

Community-Verified Data

Scholarships, colleges, and deadlines are contributed and moderated by the community — not a single corporate entity. GitHub issues become the audit trail.

4. Practical Implementation & GitHub Link

The prototype is under active development. The front-end uses Next.js, data is stored in open Markdown/JSON, and the AI layer uses open-source NLP tooling optimized for low-resource Assamese text.
